Author Interview: Nichelle Rae

Nichelle Rae has written The White Warrior series.

1. What is your name and where do you call home?
Hi! My name is Nichelle Rae and I'm from Massachusetts.

2. What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 20 or less words, what would you say?
Epic Fantasy with a unique twist to the stereotypical fantasy genre concerning the main character, Azrel's, magic.

3. Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?
This book is part of a 7 book series called The White Warrior. I have the first book out now and available for download and the second book will be available on March 28th 2013. The first book (volume 1) is called "Only A Glow" and the second book (volume 2) is called "The Blaze Ignites."

4. What or who inspired you to start writing? And how long have you been writing?
I have been writing since I was 14. No one really inspired me to start writing it was just something I enjoyed doing. To make impossible situations, (like meeting, or even dating, a member of your favorite boyband) seem and become real through stories was just so much fun!

5. Do you gift books to readers for book reviews?
Absolutely! Since I'm such a new author, I will always have my books available for free download somewhere, either on Amazon or Smashwords, all the time if I can. If reviewers require or prefer a physical copy of my books I would absolutely do what I could to make that happen.

6. How did you come up with the cover? Who designed the cover of your book?
I didn't come up with the cover. LOL I was absolutely clueless as to what I wanted my cover to look like. My poor, but completely brilliant cover artist came up with the cover of "Only A Glow" all by himself with nothing from me but a short synopsis of my book. What he did was so gorgeous I just couldn't believe it. He created all my covers and even has the cover of my second book "The Blaze Ignites" on his home page! His name is Travis Pennington and his website is http://www.probookcovers.com/

7. Which is your favorite cover of all the books you have written?
I still have to order 2 more book covers to complete the series, but so far I would have to say that "The Blaze Ignites" book #2 is my favorite. Not only is it gorgeous and featured on my cover artists website, but a fan and a friend of mine, Sandra Alincastrofrom Argentina (yes, Argentina), created the magnificent diamond sword hilt of my main character on her own accord. It was so beautiful I HAD to put it on a book cover!

8. How did you come up with the title for your book?
Each of my book titles is a description of the place my main character, Azrel, is in her journey. BecauseAzrel wields white fire magic the titles are centered around fire. The state of the fire in the title is a statement of where Azrel is in her journey (Book #1, Only A Glow. Book #2, The Blaze Ignites. Book #3, Steady Burn. Book #4, Doused. Book #5, Embers Under The Ash. Book #6, Commanding The Fire. Book #7, Fire of the World). Only a Glow refers to the fact that Azrel is just beginning her journey but she hasn’t made any significant personal or war triumphs yet, so she’s Only A Glow of the Fire of the World warrior she was born to be.

9. Do you have a book trailer? And what are your thoughts on book trailers?
HA! Yes I do have a book trailer. You can view it here: http://vimeo.com/51313772 I love book trailers so much I started my first Blog titled "B.R.A.V.E. (Books Really Are Very Entertaining)" dedicated to featuring author book trailers and a short interview with the author. You can visit B.R.A.V.E.via the link below.

10. Have you ever read a book more than once? And if so what was it?
I have read at least 1000 books in my life and have only read two books twice. The first was "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind and the second was "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien. Genius. Both of them. They create believable worlds that make the reader wish they could live in despite the obvious danger and peril. The camaraderie and friendship and love and bravery that gets these characters through the danger and peril makes the danger an peril worth it.

11. What is your favorite film? Was it based on a book?
Sure was! The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. It was those movies that inspired my entire 7 books series that I took 2 years out of my life to write when I was 19 LOL! I was obsessed with the Lord of the Rings movies, but to me it seemed there weren’t enough tough females in the books (or movies), and I'm a sucker for a tough-as-nails female heroine. So I started writing my own version of Lord of the Rings with an added main character named Azrel. As the story progressed though, I was shocked to suddenly realize that Azrel was starting to take on a life of her own and her story started to lead away from the Lord of the Rings plot. When I realized this, I just shrugged and decided to follow her. Lo and behold! The White Warrior series was born.

12. What is your favorite book genre at the moment?
Fantasy! Always has been always will be my favorite.

13. What book are you reading at the moment? And in what format?
I'm reading R.A. Salvatore's "The Hunter's Blades" trilogy. It's the second trilogy in Salvatore's "Dark Elf" series starring Drizzt Do' Urden, who is absolutely my favorite character in the history of the thousand books I have read! I love Drizzt!!

14. Where can your readers follow you?
